LONDON, UK – July 19, 2021 - Element Materials Technology (Element) has launched a new air dispersion modelling service aimed at supporting the transition to office working in a ‘COVID-safe’ manner by assessing ventilation quality.
In response to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Element introduced workplace risk assessments to identify potential safety gaps and improvements, which enable organizations to implement robust control measures. As ventilation has been widely identified as one of the most significant safety measures for limiting transmission of the coronavirus, Element has further expanded its capabilities to include the assessment of ventilation quality by developing air dispersion modelling.
Using state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to understand the particle flow, Element combines this with data science and artificial intelligence to recommend techniques to reduce the risk of transmittable diseases in an office space, industrial environment or other workplace area. This accurately predicts how the virus particles are dispersed in the air and where the greatest concentrations are likely to be, allowing for detailed recommendations on improvements to control the flow of particles.
Michiel Graswinckel, Vice President of Energy & Environmental, Europe at Element, said: “As more people begin the transition to the workplace, it is vital that organizations can keep their teams safe. At Element, we strive to create a more positive future and we hope that our modelling software can help businesses assess the current risks that exist in their workspace, and identify the control measures that will have the most positive impact for the wellbeing of their people.
“The CFD capability we have developed also demonstrates our adaptability and commitment to offering our customers the technical services they require to operate at the highest level.”
With a network of accredited environmental testing facilities located throughout the UK, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa, Element helps its customers to meet their environmental obligations through its comprehensive range of laboratory and field-based environmental testing services. The highly trained team of engaged experts are experienced in local environmental regulations and specialize in services including testing drinking water, groundwater, surface and waste water; soil testing; sediments, solid waste, drilling waste, and ambient air quality testing; the management of hazardous materials (including asbestos); and stack emissions sampling.
